a malaysian breakfast
It has been just over four weeks since we got back from our holidays, but the lag of a free afternoon and the scent of chlorine from the pool still beckons. It has been four weeks since we got back to work, and still the ability to fully function on the ball is now only slowly picking itself up from the pieces it broke into since Bangkok. The family, friends, the shopping and the food are still amiss; and hence, this last weekend, Iris decided to work up a Malaysian breakfast at her place to celebrate all that is good about the holidays we had and just for a moment, live in that state of denial from the reality we would have had to face back on Monday.
On the menu:
1. Kaya & butter on toast
2. Half-boiled eggs with soy sauce & white pepper
3. Kluang coffee
One has to admire what Iris has done with her home. Decked with great furniture and crockery - including a great dividend from our enamel kitchenware shopping in Klang - she has definitely succeeded in turning a house into a home in this short time (compared to what we’ve done with our place, at least!). And what better way to complete the picture than to have a house cat to go along with it!
